I am in dire need of a new credit card. I just need more spending money. I don't plan on accumulating dept...I buy stuff from friends and dealers and sell it for profit on auction sites. I just need some advice here.

I only have 1 credit card right now. The limit is so low, that I max the card out every month about 1/3 or 1/2 way through the month, each and every time. They just tripled my limit 3 months ago, and I STILL max it out in about 1/2 a month.

So, I need 1 or 2 more credit cards. Since I'm just turning 19 in April, I don't think I'd qualify for that AMEX blue or platinum card, although I would like to get that for personal purchases...I guess that will just have to wait until I am older.

I am looking for just the most generic credit card you can find. I need a low yearly cost or a $0 yearly cost. And my current credit card is 0% APR, I would like one with 1% or lower APR. I don't care about late payments interest % because I always make my payments in full and on time.

Basically....I just need a credit card for free month to month short term, small loans. That's what I use my credit card for and it really is a great feature! Most people hate credit cards for that reason, but I think that you just have to know how to take advantage of your recources....credit cards are awesome and have made me lots of month over the past few months.

So anyone have any advice? Cheap generic credit card company?

I'd like to point out, that these CC companies will still be making money off me. Most of them charge about 5% for most merchants. My credit card company might be the cheapest ever, and it's directed towards college students, but they still make TONS of money, in the $ millions or $ billion maybe.

My credit card company still provides excellent customer service (although it's not 24/7), and I can get all the info I need about my account 90% of the time through their computer system, which is up 24/7 anyway.

The paypal question I had:

I'm thinking about upgrading my paypal account to a premier member so that I can take credit card payments (unlimited amount) from people when they pay for stuff that they buy from me. I'm just worried about fraud.

I know that paypal is absolutely horrible about catching people with their fake credit cards. If someone pays w/ a fake CC, or if someone who paid w/ a fake CC to someone else, and then that person sends the funds from me, then I paypal "temporarily" takes my funds away, and never gives them back.

I have heard horror stories about this stuff, how people have lost $ hundreds of dollars. Is there any way to stop this? Is there any precaution I can take? How fast does paypal usually catch this type of thing?

And let say that they take 5 days to catch it. Is it legal for me, to say that "on all credit card payments, buyers must wait 5 days before I will send the product because of possible credit card fraud"? Is it OK for me to say that? Is there like some kind of state or federal law that says that I am not allowed to wait extra time for credit card payments?

I already know that it's illegal to charge extra 2.5% or whatever it is for paypal payments, although I have seen a lot of people in these forums do it. On the big auction sites, it's definately not allowed. And if a company had it on their webpage, they'd be busted. I'd rather not charge the extra 2.5%, and I'd just keep myself safe, better safe than sorry, right?

So any advice on either of these questions would be very helpful to me. You can reply here so that it can help other users if you want...that would be best. Or PM me, or email me at tambrus@yahoo.com

Thanks,

Tibor

Just be very careful man, I would advise you to not get one. How do you think that most people get into debt? It starts little by little then your in a hole up to your eyebrows. :(

the easiest card to get, is the "Citibank AA Advantage Mastercard Silver". you'll have to dig through their citibank line of cards, they expect about 1 year of credit established, and of course perfect payment history.

Most everyone i know whose paid perfectly for 9-10 months, will get this card. If you make like 40K/year you'll get $1000 line, 55K/year $2000, etc.

Instant approval.
www.citibank.com -> go to their products, select the "Citibank AA WORLD MASTERCARD" then find that card. Don't apply for anything other than the MASTERCARD SILVER (not the world mastercard).

Msg me after you get the card , i'll tell you some secrets about citibank.

It really depends on your personal spending and payment habits. If people get cards, spend, spend, spend, up to the limit, then pay minimum payments each month, while acquiring more credit and spending, spending, spending.....those kinds will end up in a huge hole. I know people who live this way and they go bankrupt like clockwork every so many years.

I personally use 3, but max them for my product purchases, then pay them off every month. Mine are for business use.

Yes, that's true, for people who SPEND their money using credit cards, maxing them out. I don't spend money, I INVEST it, with my credit card....dept won't happen to me. If I do get into dept, just stop investing so much, and pay of the dept ASAP :)

Thanks,

Hi Tib,

Please review the Seller Protection Program on how not to be liable for charge backs. You will not be held liable if you follow the steps of the program.

An indicator of fraud is a user having you ship it to a country like Indonesia/Russia. These countries are not on our list of approved countries because of their high credit card fraud rates and this is one way users can protect themselves---not all transactions will have an issue.

Our charge back rates are well below the industry average because of how aggressive we are at catching fraud. We use external verification tools and we have internal measures to detect and stop it.
