1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

I plan on gaming a lot, bf3, swotor, diablo 3, etc. Also the games that will come this year and the follwing so i'd like it to last at least 2 years (before beiing outdated and cannot run new games). i do a little to no video editing, watch movies, record gameplay, etc.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

I'd like to put in 1000$-1200$ can be less if there are cheaper yet as effective parts

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

i'm living in canada, so from canada and USA i guess.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

all i really want is an intel cpu, the other parts brand don't matter much.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

my pc is 5 years old junk.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

i red a lot in the past week on parts and things to consider.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

i will try to overclock (never done it)

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

i have an 1248/1024 screen, i might buy a wide one (1920x1080?) and use my old one as a second monitor

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

i'd like it to be done by the end of january

So this is the build i think would fit my situation, i haven't look at the market for years so i might be off the track. i red about parts and thing people on here recommended so i think it might not be that bad? Anyway give me ur input and help, i would really be thankful!

Looks pretty good to me. There are a few areas that you can improve though:
- GPU: The 6970 is not that much faster than a 6950. You can get a 6950 2GB for around 2/3rd the cost. You can also overclock and potentially unlock it so that it is effectively a 6970 anyway.
- SSD : The C300 is the older version of the M4. The M4 is the same price without having to fool with a rebate, so get that instead.
- HDD : $150 is still kind of pricey. The Hitachi 7K1000.D series is both faster an less expensive.

So your possible monitor upgrade is not included in the $1200 budget?

Case good but newegg.ca doesn't have a rebate on it; I think you're quoting these prices from newegg.com
Mobo good but newegg.ca has it for $150, not $130
GPU 6950 instead, it's better bang for buck. Also, by the end of January, AMD 7800 series could be released. Essentially 6900 series manufactured on the 28nm process, so they use substantially less power and probably perform a bit better.
PSU overpriced, buy XFX 650W $45 AR, it's made by Seasonic.
CPU good but $230 on newegg.ca
SSD C300 is SATA II. You'll want SATA III, here.
RAM Newegg.ca has $10 shipping on RAM to Canada... I'd order 1600mhz RAM from NCIX, see this page
HDD Hitachi 7K1000.D 1TB is cheaper and faster
DVD good
Cooler good

Keep in mind that by the end of January, there might be better deals up on different components so it may be a good idea to make some adjustments to this build.

Comes in slightly above your budget, but I just finished putting together the $1200 Enthusiast PC by Tom's Hardware (for a gamer buddy) and he's been loving it.

Check out the build here: http://www.pickie.co/collection/toms-hardware-enthusiast-pc

the S12II 620 is a much newer platform than the xfx 650
http://www.overclock.net/t/678840/on-seasonic

That link doesn't say anything about how much newer S12II 620 is than XFX 650W. All it says is

SeaSonic S12II/M12II 520-620 - These are somewhat newer units, hitting the market just recently.
[...]
SeaSonic SS-***AT [Of which XFX Core 650W is a rebrand] - These units have not yet received a retail designation like the other platforms on this list.
Also, what's the relevance of this? XFX 650W at $45 AR is a lot better deal S12II 620W at $70, even if S12II was a newer platform. And you get 4 PCIe connectors too.

If your anywhere near Orange County or Silicon Valley (California) Micro Center has a really good deal on the i5 2500k + Z68 mobo. $179.99 for the i5 + $50 off any Z68 mobo.
