Ok, I just wrecked our 99 v6 mustang, damn deer. It's declared a total loss, so i've gotta start all over. I really want a Saleen S281-sc, but don't know if I can work that out. Can you guys sorta help me out? I want something special and fast, gotta be a 5 speed (or 6 ;)) but don't have crazy cash to blow.

Buy a used mid 90s Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. $13,000-$20,000 will get you a nice 93-95, shouldn't have any major problems through 100k miles, lots of online support for them, and you can take it from 300 hp to 400 hp for about $1100 in do it yourself upgrades. Or a turbo supra, roughly the same story but a bit more expensive and harder to find, because they made fewer.

You can have my Carrera 2 Cabrio, speed yellow, all leather interior, 18'inch hollow spoke wheels (the one from the Turbo, save you 30kg), 3-spoke steering, Digital data processing sound system, sport seats, the new, small spoiler kit (cool), yellow painted interior with yellow stitching on the upholstery, aluminim door sils, aluminum gear-shift lever. Around 1500 km, brand new, has been driven 500 km on the Fuji speed way reace track, to get max speed. Contact me, I send you a pic. :D

nothing against an Audi S4, but that is for pop and mom.:frown:

Roush Mustangs are junk for what you pay for them and what you get (as far as performance goes). Ask just about any Mustang enthusiast.

Eh, I wouldn't call a V6 stang much of a loss at all :D Sorry, that was a cheap shot  Maybe it's a sign, "Buy something fast!!!" ;)

Saleen's kick ass! i love how i live just down the street from them. Get to see them everyday! muahahaha

But honestly, i wouldn't buy a ford. That's just MO tho.

$30K ,limit?

Well if i'm not mistaken, saleens are a bit more than that. I may be wrong. How about a nice celica GTS TRD?

There's another stang out, the billet mustang or something? I think it's under $29K not sure about teeh specs tho.

Really, If you've had a 6 cylinder before move up to an 8 cylinder stang. Go find your local ford performance shops you can get a car used there easy! They'll know all about its history and probably run it on the dyno which would show you its power capability.

What city are you in btw?

it's unfortunate the mustangs w/ v8 base price is so much more than a base z28, cause i'd say just go for the base mustang and get a shop to put the mods on for you, unless you want to.

i'm up in the thumb of michigan. I could possibly shoot for a little over $30 if it was a sweet ass saleen. Like w/5000 miles or something..

Are you planning on leaving it stock or making performance mods? If so just go with the cobra then. The saleen's are gonna be alot, but you can add on the wheels and stuff of their kits. I'd live a Cobra, nice 320HP Pony with IRS that would be really fun.

OK - if you're looking for something under 30k, here's what I'd consider:

Camaro SS/Firebird Trans-Am
Used Supra TT - 6 speed of course - Targa Top preffered (very smooth car) :D
The Saleen you mentioned sounds good as well.
How about an older C5 Vette? That'd be my 1st choice depending on price

here's a big tip: Don't buy a performance car until you find a local shop that works on them. You'll be sorry years down on, when your car breaks, and you have to pay a dealer to work on something they have no clue about..

How about a Honda Accord value pack for about $15k? You could add a VTEC badge for $14 and automatically gain 15 "Mental Horsepower". Oh, wait. You'll need a 4 in. exhaust tip. That straight 4 REALLY needs to breathe. How about a bookshelf wing? You'll be going so fast you need a horizontal stabilizer to keep your car on the ground. If you opt for the V6, dont even think about taking it out on public highways, cops will be all over you, that's only for the racetrack. And dont forget the following: Interga R-Type badge (another 15 mental horsepower) YELLOW stickers proclaiming: Saleen, Shelby, supercharged, et al, basically awful stickers defacing your car with things that dont exist. Dont forget underbody moldings, neon, and dashboard trim that doesent match the rest of the interior.
