My P35C-DSR3 blew up last night and I had to run to Fry's to get a new board. They have a really crappy selection. I just had to settle for a Gigabyte EP35-DS3R board. I have no idea if it is good or not because I had no access to this forum when my PC blew. :)

I don't need 2 PCIE X16 slots.

$150 or under if fine. I prefer to buy from newegg.

thanks

Thanks. I just got the ep35-ds3r to 3.2 (which should be easy). My old board (see below) did 3.6... 24/7.

How do this boards overclock?

Your EP35-DS3R should OC around the same as your original P35C, what I remember is the only real difference between the P35C and the EP35 is the EP35 has a few more power saving features and the solid caps. I am sure you will find they both have a similar Bios aswell.

my p35 is great, but if you do want a newer chipset then why not just get the p45 from gigabyte then?

I've got an idea for a take-off on a Dan Brown novel.

A consortium of motherboard makers arranges to produce high-end motherboards for the enthusiast community. They then hire a software firm to design Trojans or worms that can sneak around security software, and at a certain time when the industry is moving toward another generation of hardware, the infections cause all the boards in the enthusiast community to "go south," as it were . . . . taking advantage of certain features in the chipsets.

Farewell, nearly brand-new but a year-old Striker Extreme. You were running VISTA 64 wonderfully, and allowed me to clock my E8400 to 3.6 and above.

Rest in Peace (you sorry piece of . . . ).
