I need a new bed

In the past I have usually just spent in the neighborhood of $500 when it comes to a bed (queen size). This time around I am willing to drop whatever it takes for a really, really good mattress.

Any input or recommendations appreciated

I bought mine at sears, as well as the bedframe. Cost me about 1000. I love my mattress, better then the one I have back at my parent's place.

I love my latex bed, no more annoying noisy coil springs, etc...you should check it out.

Everyone prefers a different mattress so the best thing to do would be to try them out yourself. Also, even after you make your choice you might find you don't like it like you thought you would after a few weeks. Make sure you purchase from a place that has a good policy for returning/exchanging if you don't like it. Most places do I think.

When you buy your bed make sure you get it from a place that gives at least a 30 night guarantee (if you hate it they will let you exchange for something else within 30 days). Spend in the $1500 - $2500 range, and get one with a very high spring count if you are getting a spring mattress (900+ is usually good).

i personally love my memory foam mattress... what about one of those "select number" mattresses you see on late night tv?

Memory foam + pillowtop = heaven. We tried out a King-sized at the local bed shop...it was like $6,000 for the full setup - memory foam, pillowtop, massage, lift...awesome

i heard that spending over $1000 is overkill. I read this article by some mattress expert that after a certain price range you're just paying for the name.

I had a water bed for a few years as a child after switching rooms with a sibling. Seemed perfectly fine, no back trouble at all. I can sleep on the floor or anything else and be perfectly happy, though, so can't claim to be very sensitive.
