I really want to replace my Samsung T240HD but I have no idea on where to start. All I know is that it's an old monitor I purchased off of slick deals. I believe that it is a TN panel.

I am looking for something that doesn't have horrible viewing angles, displays sharp pictures, around 24 inches, and is decent on games. My budget is around 300 but the cheaper the better! It doesn't have to be the best, just a decent upgrade over my old Samsung in the categories I listed.

Another thumbs up for the U2412 if you are willing to spend that much and it's not that expensive. I own 3 of them and they are great for everything.
As for the dirty look thing some people feel the AG (Anti-Glare) coating on some Dell monitors is too aggressive and makes them look dirty. Frankly I have never noticed this and how much it will bother you, if at all, is up to you.

I suggest that if possible you go have a look at some monitors in-store or buy from some place with a good return policy.

Fourthed'd on the Dell 24xx. I have the 2407 model and it's been running great for almost 5 years now. No desire to change aside from maybe upgrading to a 27".

Think I had my eye on a Dell 27" with 1920x1200-ish resolution recently. It was an IPS panel, I think.

27" or 28" 1920x1200 is sweet. I have a 28" I-Inc 1929x1200 and I absolutely love it. Its a TN panel but very good for gaming and everything else I do on it. Mostly gaming but a fair bit of web browsing too.

Have 2 dells, on secondary unit is my 2405, newer is a 2410. Would never do anything other than plasma and not sure why the "wide gamut" hate, but the newer one looks amazing compared to the older model which was great when released.

tftcentral.co.uk is your friend here. They do the best monitor reviews you will find anywhere. The Dell 2410 and 2412M are both reviewed and compared to the top TN, IPS, PVA etc panels so you can work out what you want most when trading off the various aspects.

Catleap! 2560x1440 gaming goodness.

True... but a bitch to pay for the upkeep in system components that allow games to run well at that resolution (guess you could half it to 1280x770?).

Also, 24" 1920x1200 is hard enough to read text on. I think Dell discontinued their 27" 1920x1200, then brought it back.
