I need a MoBo for certain specs

I am going to be using an AMD Athlon 64 3000+, and I hope I can use the GForce 6600GT video card. Problem is I need a MoBo for both of these, because apparantly the 6600GT(As found on newegg.com) is a PCI-E, and my current MoBo is only 8x AGP.

Any help is appreiciated.

Hi nickv360 and Welcome to the Forums!

Check out this THREAD. There are two socket 754 PCI-e mobo's mentioned within.

In general, pairing a socket 754 with PCI-e gfx looks a bit tough. Might wanna reconsider the AGP route.

Hope this helps,

After researching more, I am going to stay with an AGP, even though the 6600GT PCI-E was perfect for me, the AGP one is too expensive right now. Maybe in the future.

For now, I am caught between:

GForce FX5900XT
Radeaon 9600Pro
Radeon x700Pro

Any comments on these cards....

Originally, you were looking at getting a new motherboard for the 6600GT PCI-e, that's $300. But, you can't afford the cheaper solution: $225 AGP?

Look for a 9800 pro. I got mine months ago for $200. With the new 6600GT in AGP coming out now, I think you would be able to find a 9800pro for around your original budget $190 soon.
