$900. I picked up the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and a 1.4x TC for under $750 (Off of Ebay, so it's not the same as buying from B&H obviously).

It's *kind of* two lenses in one with that setup. Something like that would be my suggestion for a bit more flexibility. Combine it with the kit lens and you can cover a decent amount of ranges.

Thanks for the suggestion; I'll keep it in mind when I actually start shopping for a lens. Have to come up with the money first 🙂

i got mine for less then 800$ new

you can get one for around 500 barley used same with the 70-200
and personally i dont really like TCs and a 70-200 with out VR is worthless
