I need a keyboard for a POS system under 13" or As Small As Possible.

It's hard to find anything this size, and the normal sized keyboards are way too large to this purpose. Something the size of a Mac Keyboard would be nice but the POS wont work with those. Any suggestions?

Using AppleK Pro, you can even use a Mac USB keyboard on your Windows machine (ADB keyboards require a ADB/USB converter).

Those links are useful but the POS requires PS/2. No USB, sorry. 🙁

*USB to PS2 adapter...*

I've seen lots of mini keyboards out there. Since you need ps/2, you can go all the way back to the 80s and find a used one.

Believe it or not, a USB to ps2 adapter is not a magical contraption that will make any USB device work with PS2. The hardware has to be made to support ps2, which keyboards, especially Mac keyboards don't.

You mean you don't have USB on the system you're trying to use the keyboard on?

It's a POS system that dosent support USB, only PS/2 so my options are sort of limited. 🙁

My USB ergo mac keyboard works just fine on my PC without anything special. Even detects the onboard USB hub. Only thing different is that the Windows key and ALT key get switched around.

What's your POS software? Looking for one here...

It's acutually specifically built for food cooperatives. It wouldn't serve any other purpose unless you talked to the designer and had him customize it for you. It's DOS based to save money, I dont know if you care or not.

Thanks for the link but the POS designer made it with regular PC keyboards in mind, so I am not able to use anything way out of the ordinary. This makes it very difficult to find compact keyboards to use with it, even with all the links you people have very helpfully dug up! Thanks for the response though!

i'm not sure the exact dimensions you need, however this one looks to be a BIT smaller than most standard keyboards, keys look smaller and more packed on the board.. they give dimensions

http://www.evertek.com/viewpart.asp?auto=8514

then i found this thing, but it doesnt have a numpad, but its kinda cool

could you have a separate number pad? they make ps/2 numpads

last one i could find was here

http://www.keyalt.com/keyboards/compact101.htm

but its a little expensive, but definitly a full 101 key keyboard with a pretty good bit smaller, hope it helps, good luck

Thanks for all the help people! That IBM keyboard is really enticing but unfortunately we can't afford $169 for a keyboard not to mention a keypad along with it. 🙁 Unfortunately for me but this is starting to look impossible...
