I feel for you man. 17 here, and I'm still having a lot of problems. Interview would go well, and they'll pretty much give me the job, then they'd find out I'm not 18 and then they'd say "sorry, we can't hire you." Damn punks.

welcome to the land of the <18 without work experience, it sucks :( i have been trying forever to get hired for any kind of local computer related job, and even with my experience(assisted teaching my CCNA semester 1 class in my school, did web development for my school board when i was in grade 6, which not many people my age around here can say they have done) i can't find a better job than working in the back of a grocery store :disgust:

They don't hire people with no experience because you don't have experience in the market place. With no recorded skills or anyone that you have worked with in the past to back you up, your really not worth much. You may not be legal with your age and do not have your own transportation. Not much of an asset to a company, regardless of your computer techie skills.

When I was 15 I was doing telemarketing work for $7.50 an hour or so, and this was 8 years ago. I imagine you could make $10+ an hour if you're fairly intelligent and have a good voice that's presentable over the phone. Needless to say, telemarketing is hard work and should only be done part time, but can make you some money at your age.

One burger joint in CA that I know that has great work conditions and a decent pay. I beleive they pay the guy making fries about 10 bucks an hour.

Try and see if you can get an "In n Out" job.. its not much but its enough to get started.

Yea...why does a 15 yr old kid need $7,400 in one year? I don't think I ever had that kind of money when I was 15. He's probably trying to get himself some wheels ;)

Do private consultation for people... fix friends of your folks computers... charge em 50 bucks a pop... offer to teach folks to use computers... again 50 bucks a pop... if you keep at it.. do a little advertising through word of mouth... i.e. do a good job, and always teach a little something when you fix computers... and your customers will reffer you to everyone they know... trust me, I've done it.

But be prepared for the responsibility... these people will begin hounding you for everything that goes wrong... and you'll find yourself doing alot of free work...

Are you sure its not your foul mouth and bad attitude? Anyway, trust me. nobody at the local computer repair store are making close to 45/hr except the owner, and he's not even a citizen.

Dont focus on computers jobs because theres a slim chance anyone will want to hire a kid. Just stick with the regular jobs like burger joints, movieplexes and groceries. You have a whole year to save... (for a car i presume. just get a cheaper car!) And realize that most jobs only pay about $5-8/hr.
