I used to be a distributed.net junkie, but for what ever reason got sick of it. Can someone suggest a new project that I can put my free cpu cycles towards?

Check out the sticky at the top of the forum :)

There is:

Seventeen or Bust - solving the Siepenski problem, trying to prove whether the remaining 17 numbers below 78xxx something are proth primes or not
D²OL - Medical thingy
Folding@Home - How protiens fold
Distributed Folding - See above, but different approach
Seti@home - You probably know this. We're close to being overtaken by BroadBand Reports (formally DSL Reports)

Plus many more :)

Whatever you decide to run, welcome to the TeAm!!

A very good one (at least in my opinion) is ClimatePrediction.net.

Though it takes kinda long to complete a whole run it is definitly worth it. The client seems well developed and u get some very good stats about the climate model u crunched once it is finished. Also the client has some nive visualization features, like temperature maps of the world and so on. The forums and user section of the site are well developed and crowded as well. And there's also a TeAm Anandtech you can join!

So why not give it a try?

(Do I sound like a recuiting officer? ;) )

I suggest Find-A-Drug. We are a team on the move! Also the client is excellent.

Photography...

... just kidding. ;)

Take my advice (from personal experience): if you want to have money to spend on your computers, do not get seriously interested in photography. It will leave you with nothing to spend on your systems (just hope they don't break, or you won't be able to afford to fix them). :Q

Anyway, I am personally involved in Folding@Home, but also have a machine on SETI at the moment to help them finish ahead of BBR (then everything goes back to F@H after SETI 1 ends). There are many other good projects, including SoB, United Devices, Distributed Folding, SETI@Home, Climate Prediction, Distributed Particle Accelerator Design, et al.
