I need a hobby. Help me, ATOT.

Serious thread.

I need a creative outlet. I used to animate, but I sort of just stopped doing it. I've thought about doing stuff like PC case mods, etc., but I don't own any tools aside from a hammer and screwdriver =/. I used to build small websites pretty much solely for personal use, but I don't have enough programming knowledge to do any of the really good stuff. Another idea I had was maybe making a piece of chainmail of some kind. That looks fun.

Any ideas? I'd like it to not be too terribly expensive. If it turns out to be something I really, really enjoy then who knows, maybe I'll open an Etsy shop. I'm just having trouble thinking of what to do.

Silly ideas are welcome too. Every thread could always use more humor.

i've recently gotten back into fishing and really enjoy it. it's fairly inexpensive to get started too. can easily get a rig setup for like $30 if you want to go very cheap. and you could get a pretty damn good setup for about $100.

and the thing is, after you get your initial stuff, you don't really need to spend too much more to keep up with it.

EDIT: although it's not creative at all lol. forgot about that part.

Ideally I would want to learn basics, right? Like when I first got the guitar I didn't know how to strum or pick correctly, and I still don't. I think I would benefit from an hour of one on one learning. I'll scour craigslist for a teacher I guess.
Yeah, guitar is like golf; better to get a teacher to teach you good habits before you learn bad ones he'll have to spend time undoing.

Read a book to expand your knowledge?

I have been reading investment books for a bit (although lately it hasn't been as much), and it keeps the mind working and provides for personal improvement. Might not be your thing, but I like learning new things, so it works for me.

If you do not have programming knowledge to do any of the good stuff, then why not take time to learn it?

Also, with guitar, you have to invest some serious time into it, but the stuff you refer to is not really as important. Strumming correctly is something that you can pick up. It's really trivial and there really isn't a correct way. Picking, same thing. It's more about learning to pick upwards as well as downwards to increase speed and playability. Practice, practice.

Wordpress is an open source platform for building websites, you can use plug-ins to get the spiffy modern stuff of todays websites ... That way you can do something you already enjoyed, just in a new way
