I just finsihed 'The Eyes of the Dragon' (wow was that ever good!) and I need another one. I've already read The Dark Tower series, The Stand, Thinner and The Shining.

Name me a good one!

Edit - Oh and I've read Rage and The Running Man too.

Actually, King's more recent books are some of his best.

Try the following . . .

* Bag of Bones
* The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
* Hearts in Atlantis
* The Dark Tower series (The Dark Tower, Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass)

I've read about 3/4 of his books and the two I enjoyed most were Christine and Needful Things which incidently were two of the better movies besides The Shining

Along with yakko's suggestions, I would also say read Misery and Christine. I found those to be good books. Skeleton Crew and Night Shift are especially good collections of short storys.

I've liked every King book I've ever read... except the one I'm reading now, Insomnia. So far it just plain sucks :(

As others have suggested, try:

It
Misery
The Green Mile
Fire Starter (this one I haven't seen mentioned, but I think it's definitely worth a read)

Bag of Bones is OK, but I would read the above first. The Long Walk (I think?) is a good short story of his.

"The Bachman Books" is terrific - when first published, they were by "Richard Bachman" but now you can buy all four stories in one edition by Stephen King. Any of the collections (sorry, the names elude me right now) are great, King writes a downright frightening short story.

lesterjr is absolutely right, The Talisman is a long but worthwhile read. I cannot believe I forgot that one.

Insomnia was a great book...
"The Long Walk" (a short story in the "Bachman Books" collection) is a great story. I also enjoyed Desperation, and The Regulators

I will give a "third" to The Talisman and at least an honorable mention to "The Long Walk".

<< Geralds Game >>

Hehe. I wonder how many women object to being handcuffed to the bed after reading this one?

Also, don't forget about Dean Koontz. He's got some good spine-tingler books out there.
