I need a good reason!

Why would anyone ever want to buy an AMD 2800+ or 3200+ while one can easily achieve the same performance with an 2500+ mobile ?

Is it because those non-overclocked 2800+ and 3200+ run cooler than an overclocked 2500+ mobile? If yes, how much cooler?

Is it because those non-overclocked 2800+ and 3200+ die slower than an overclocked 2500+ mobile? If yes, how much slower?

Or is there any other reasons?

Non-overclocked CPUs have valid warranties and are guaranteed to hit their rated speeds with no fuss, talent, or animal sacrifices required 🙂

makes note to self to stop the incantational sacrifices..just eat'em after the barbequeing is done 😀

LOL! 😀

another reason...encoding is also better on the A64...almost as good (even better in a few cases) than the P4...

Overclocking can have a negative effect on your system in terms of stability and longitevity. For those that prize stability over raw speed, paying extra can be worth it. Also, obvioulsy not all cpu's will overclock at the same level - it's a crapshoot, while runnming your hardware at stock speeds is a sure thing.
