I've seen many books at amazon and I really cant chose! some cover more PHP with litle MySQL some the other way around... some look good and popular, but the best books i've read aren't that popular.

so I need advice from some one who actually already studied PHP/MySQL

I need to get a data driven content web site going (local Hardware site - in Israel - not competeing with anand :) )
and I simply dont know what I should get... I know HTML and CSS very well and I know how to design great... but as far as
Web programing goes - its all new to me (though I do know C and some other languages very well).

Help would be greatly appricated.
Thank You!

I would get MySQL by Paul DuBois (Rew Riders)
The MySQL & C API stuff is top-notch. I'm not a PHP guy, but if the PHP section is up to the standards of the rest of the book, it's a good choice.

I would agree with egeorge, MySQL by Paul DuBois is a very good book. It depends on your background. I really didn't know that much about relational databases, some basic stuff but no admin. If you are in this boat too then this is a very good book.

For php I can't recommend, but I can say you ought not to waste your time with "Beginning php4" by various. It is a good book, but is suited to real newbies. e.g. it explains <everything>. For someone who as experience of designing web pages and C you don't need HTML forms and basic array handling taught to you again. Plus it's Wrox so it has to be over 700 pages.......

happy hunting!
