I'm starting my Christmas shopping now and would like some advice from the Photoshop users out there on any good books for someone who is mostly a self taught Photoshop 7 user. Any recommendations? I?ve seen Bert Monroy?s books at Amazon but not sure if his books are targeted at new, mid-level or advanced users. This person is familiar with what I would consider basic features like resizing, color adjustments, feathering, and layering so I think maybe something in the mid-level range might be about right.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

After looking at reviews at Amazon and bn, here are the ones I've been thinking of getting myself:

(top choice)
Photoshop 7 Artistry: Mastering the Digital Image - by Barry Haynes, Wendy Crumpler, Sean Duggan

(runner-ups)
Scott Kelby books - don't have titles handy
"Real World Adobe Photoshop 7" by David Blatner and Bruce Fraser
"The Photoshop 7 Wow! Book" by Linnea Dayton and Jack Davis
"Adobe Photoshop Master Class" by John Paul Caponigro

I'm a semi-n00b at PhotoShop but was looking for intermediate/advanced rather than a dummies manual replacement.

One idea if you can't narrow it down would be a $60 gift cert in a box with printouts of the Amazon pages for the books you're considering, so the person knows you've put some thought into it but can still make the final choice themselves.
