Hey guys , I need a nice iPod boombox , its mostly gonna be for outdoor use...please recommend a few good ones. Thanks

I have a Griffin Amplifi:

It has a dock connector right in the middle and adapters to fit a Nano, iPhone, etc. Sounds like 1000x better than the iPod HiFi boombox. I use it when I do outdoor movie nights with my projector

Runs about $100 online and it's an all-in-one unit - sub on the bottom, speakers in the front, dock on top, and a minijack input on the rear. Single power cable with a wall wart out the back (unpluggable from the unit), which is nice because a typical 2.1 system has lots of wiring to the two speakers and separate sub, plus power.

Logitech Pure Fi Anywhere 2 is great. I got one recently and am very happy with it. Plus it can be charged up so you can use it without having to plug it in.

Apple iPod Hi-Fi, if you can find one used at a reasonable price?

No no no, oh man, don't recommend that! It sounds TERRIBLE! I demo'd one at Best Buy and it sounds like a $15 boombox you'd buy from Radio Shack, except the Radio Shack model sounds better! The Griffin Amplifi sounds at least 100 times better! 😀

I second the ampifi. Might be the best bang for the buck.

Amazon has em for a good price.

I have one, it's pretty nice, a bit heavy on the bass though.. Other than that, it's nice and load, and doesn't distort very much at all at higher volumes.

I don't think it's heavy on the bass at all - I find it quite gratifying, esp. at higher volumes 🙂 The sound quality is quite remarkable; for instance, DSotM/Lateralus both sound fucking amazing. Also looks hella sleek.

I researched portable ipod amps for a while, and if you have the money, this is unbeatable in it's price range. I found mine for ~170 on eBay; HK has a refurb store on eBay as well and I believe these will run you 2-220 for a new refurb.

I picked up a Harman Kardon Go + Play , holy cow this thing kicks butt!!!

I got it at Amazon for a decent price.

I already posted a review at Amazon .......
I have read a few times now folks saying the Go+Play is one of the better iPod docks available , this is not correct. Come on folks, look around and go listen to a few iPod docks, because if you do this then listen to a Go+Play it will be very clear that there is none better than the Go+Play , NONE!!! Good Job and thanks Harman Kardon!!

There simply is no other dock that can compare with this guy. Its bi-amped , 30 watts the tweeter, 30 to the woofers.

If anyone is reading this thread because they want a nice iPod dock, RUN don't walk to Amazon and snap one up!!!
