I need to find a good capture card to convert VHS tapes to DVDs. Hauppauge, ATI, any other suggestions? The card will be used in a new C2 Duo system, I'd like to keep the cost of the card around a $150.
Any old PCI TV card will do that perfectly fine - as long as you choose one that has a modern chip. Cards with Philips or Conexant chips start from $25.
These capture the raw stream, to be encoded to your likings by any DVD mastering software you please. C2D isn't going to constrain you in that task, so there's really no point in buying an expensive card with an MPEG-encoding chip on.
