have you read Band of Brothers? I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, but loved the series and heard the book was a LOT better.

Own the series on DVD. I went to B&N a few months ago and flipped through the book. It seemed too short to do the justice I thought it would. But you know what they say about judging books by their covers. I'll look into it again.

Read A Hymn Before Battle by John Ringo. You can actually download it for free Here . It the first in a pretty good Sci-Fi war series.

The Code Book by Simon Singh is a great book. It's all about cryptography throughout the ages, but (for the most part) doesn't get all nerdy on you.

It's not really in either of those genres', but it a good that everybody needs to read once(if not several times)

Touch the Top of the World by Erik Weihenmayer--the story of a man who climbed the highest mountains on each of the seven continents.

Mr. Weihenmayer is also blind.

More votes for Band of Brothers & Into Thin Air

I've read the Greatest Generation book by Brokaw ... it was good, but not great. Try My War by Andy Rooney

Also, for a strange mix of historical fiction, try Stephenson's Cryptinomicon
