I would personally recommend any of the Sony Cybershots. They are great little cameras, with the cheap S50 model recording upto 1600x1200 pictures (at about 2 megapixel) upto the better end, the S85 model recording upto 2272x1704 (at about 4 megapixel). There are also various models inbetween, and the S50 up also has a feature to record small video (w/audio) clips. The only downside is that they run on Sony Memorysticks, meaning you need to buy a decent sized one to hold enough photos (recommend a 64MB one). They connect through the computer via USB and are really good cameras.
