My A7N8X deluxe just crapped out. I am having a hard time finding a decent replacement beyond a used one off ebay. I don't want to upgrade anything, so I need the board to support pc2700 DDR.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies -

I looked into the PCChips, but coming off an Asus 'deluxe' board, I wanted more.

I found axiontech had a few decent socket A boards left so I odered a DFI board.

thanks

The PC CHIPS M811LU V3.1 and clones have an issue with the IDE subsystem that prevents ATA/100 and ATA/133 drives from operating higher than ATA/66 without serious transfer errors and data corruption. I've confirmed this with several other users, in addition to the approx. 20 boards I've purchased.

EPoX EP-8KRAIPRO Socket A VIA KT880 + VT8237 ATX Motherboard - $49.00 shipped (SATA by VT8237R)

ECS KM400-M2 3.0 Socket A VIA KM400 + VT8237 Micro ATX Motherboard - $42.00 shipped (SATA by VT8237R)

PC CHIPS M863G V5.1A Socket A SiS741GX Micro ATX Motherboard - $40.00 shipped (No SATA)

Gigabyte 7VT600-RZ Socket A VIA KT600 ATX Motherboard - $39.00 shipped (No SATA)

get a good mainboard. even if its a bit expensive. you'll get a more reliable computer and more upgrade potential.get one with pci-express or with agp atleast. and get one from a good brand. asus or msi or gigabyte.

Have her check the IDE transfer mode for each drive in Device Manager under Primary or Secondary IDE Channel. Any ATA/100 and ATA/133 drives will operate no higher than ATA/66 (Ultra DMA Mode 4). Any ATAPI optical drive supporting ATA/33 or higher will operate no higher than ATA/25 (Ultra DMA Mode 1).
