I Need A Cheap LapTop...

I do not need something that is cutting-edge, but I need to acquire a laptop that will run software like StarOffice, maybe play some low-end games like StarCraft. The primary use would be for writing, though. I would like to find one that gets decent battery-life, and has a 3.5" floppy drive as well as a CD-ROM drive. Anyone know of any websites that sell older laptops, preferably no slower than 400 Mhz? I would prefer to spend less than $500.00, but I am not sure if that is a realistic estimate, as I have little experience with laptops.

You will have to go used at that price. You can try the for sale forum, or ebay, but if I were you, I'd wait until you can save another 300 to 400.

Keep an eye on the ebay laptop auctions. You will be able to find a system in your price range which will do what you want with an office software suite, like MS Office, but I am not sure how well it would pay the game you mention.
