It's for my father. All he does is go online, check email, and make music CD's. What's a good combo for around $150? I'm giving him my old ram (PC 3200), DVD rom, HD, graphics and sound card. So that's out of the way.

So I guess what I'm looking for is an ATX mobo with a Sempron chip?

If you have your own copy of Windows to install, you can frequently find a $150 Sempron box on Outpost. I've gotten 2 of them and they're decent boxes though the biggest problem is they come with Linspire and only have 128MB of RAM. Good luck finding a better buy!

I picked up an Antec Solutions case, and it has a 350w power supply. I just need an ATX mobo and a chip.

Because he doesn't need an entire PC, just a mobo and cpu.

I'd get these, they'll be fine for what you want the computer to do:

chaintech mobo

amd s754 palermo cpu

I anticipate the usual "socket 754 is dead" argument from others but in this case it will do the job and doesn't have to use every penny of your budget.

a cheap sempron s754 or celeron combo will work fine for his needs. and many can be had for under $150. even with decent boards MSI, ASUS, etc.

I think I'm going to go with the Chaintech/Sempron combo $130 and 2 day shipping is hard to beat.
