I need a cheap/durable watch

They aren't as good as they used to be. It's still a decent watch, but made in China, and they cut some corners. The backlight is better than the old models at least.

eh, everything is made in china now. i'm sure the timex models are, too. what else is there in this sub ~$75 realm? swatch? they're not very robust. fossil, i had one and broke it. seiko and citizen are more than $100. what did i miss? those 10-20 dollar watches at walmart are definitely garbage.

I will never buy another Timex watch. Every single one of them I've ever had have broken. I would like to get something like a Casio G shock, but without the "bigness" of the G shock casing. Does anyone know if the regular Casios are still pretty tough?

There's no way I'm paying 3, 4, 500 bucks for a watch like some of the people on here love to do.

Weird, I had a Timex Ironman like the OP and it lasted me 14 years... and I didn't even change the battery once! When it finally gave up I just wanted a new watch. I could have put another battery and it'd probably still be working.
