I need a 'business/casual' winter hat.

I take the metroLink from Illinois over into St. Louis. My stop puts me about 1/2 mile from my work place. In the winter, the wind between all the buildings can get pretty fierce, and regardless St. Louis winters can be rather cold.

I wear dress pants, dress shirt, etc. to work. If I can, I wear a nice suit jacket, but when it's cold, I have a nice peacoat that I wear. Last winter I wore an old beanie and earcovers, but it wasn't very stylish.

I'd like to find a had that covers my head, ears, etc. and is warm, but doesn't look unprofessional.

Ideas?

I'm still thinking about it. I just want something that covers more than my head. I like the hat in my link only because it covers so much more. I'm not a fan of scarfs.

It's a classic style. I prefer the trim profile of the mackinaw hat, but I have a Woolrich hat like the one above. Filson's stuff used to be all American made, but you have to pay attention now. Generally, their wool products are American.

you can always get a gaiter instead of a scarf. but a scarf is probably more professional-looking.

I have a hand knitted hat. It's just a beanie, but, it's very warm and comfortable. And, because it's hand knitted, it's got a bit of a pattern that makes it look very nice.

Ditto. Growing up in Michigan and Wisconsin, this sort of hat wasn't uncommon, even with suits. Black or grey are better, if available.

Beanies are fine though. Anything that actually looks dressy isn't going to be warm. Anything actually warm and covering the ears is too bulky/insulated to look dressy.
