Something classical, but not that hard to read (Steinbeck). Nothing that's futuristic. That's pretty much all... oh and it has to be good.

Dante's Inferno for the win.

Too bad it's very hard reading, and extremely hard to follow.

Ever want to be nervous about dying again? Read that book. ;)

sorry to hijack your thread, but while we're on the subjects of books, what are some good war/crime books?

Go read Cell by Stephen King, I thought it was........weird. Interesting, but weird. Stay away from Shakespeare, he sucks.

Steinbeck is easy. Check out "Tortilla Flat," the story of a group impoverished occasional workers living on the street struggling to make ends meet admidst their poverty. Some members have noble goals, this book has been referred to as a "knights of the round table story." Funny sometimes, some work as part-time bartenders where they save the alcohol from the unfinished drinks. The unfinished drinks are decanted off into a large jug and drank on the weekends. You never know whats in the jug and how it could affect you. You could be rowdy, sleepy, sweet or kind depending on whether the liquor consumed was beer, wine, hard liquor, etc. You never know.
