I've been asked by someone in our IT department if I knew of a device that would copy 50 or 100 (or some other large number) different master CD/DVDs onto targets. They would really like it if the system had spindles so that you could load up Master1, Master2, Master3, etc in a stack on one side and Copy1, Copy2, Copy3, etc in a stack on the other side.

I've never heard of anything like this, but I'm sure that plenty of people have had to make a few copies each of several hundred masters before. Anyone have any ideas?

It would probably be cheaper to buy a single 1->1 duplicator and hire a temp for the 3 days it'll take. 24hrs @ $10/hour is comparitively cheap.

I'd second Feanor's idea. The OP must be a gov't employee as only there would obtaining a machine like that for a one-time job be considered.
. Inexpensive PCI CD/DVD duplicator cards are available for one to one or two to two, etc. to fit in a standard PC. Just add the required number of DVD drives/burners and you've got the hardware/software. And hire a temp for disc logistics duties. Many employees there probably have a son or daughter that would jump at (and be qualified for) a few days of a nearly brainless job. No multi-thousand $ machine sitting there depreciating which could easily be made obsolete by some new optical disc technology by the next time it was needed.

These guys make a lot of duplicator stuff:
