I thought belkin had a 2 port KVM switch that did usb (my mouse), ps2 (keyboard), and vga. I haven't been able to find it any of the vendors i frequent. I'll take any reputable brand. I have a 4 port Linksys KVM right now, but it doesn't do usb, and someoen offered to buy it and all the cables from me. So any ideas? I know that a lot of you have more than one computer but only one keyboard, mouse, monitor. What do you use?

Belkin has a unit F1DS102U, that uses a USB mouse, USB keyboard, and VGA. Closest I could find. Provantage.com has it for $96 plus shipping.

All the Belkin ones I found would accept USB (mouse and keyboard), but they wouldn't allow the console to run off a usb keyboard/mouse, those had to be PS/2. Does this work for you?

I'll just have to look around. I want to be able to use usb for mouse, and i could probably use a new keyboard anyways so i could go usb there. I do want to use usb on the machines though. I don't know if you lose anything with optical mice going from usb to ps2, but at least usb would work plug and play if i had to unplug and plug stuff back in.

Newegg has a GWC KVM with those features for under $60. I picked up a refurbed one for 38 and it works well. Doesn't come with any cables though.

I bought the belkin unit recently from buy.com with a coupon and the basic 6 foot cable set. That no USB to the keyboard/mouse is silly though. I have computer to kvm with usb, vga, and 4.1 sound and then change the usb to the PS2 ends of cordless freedom desktop set (well, usb to ps2 adapter). One thing, why not just leave your USB mouse plugged into the computer and use a PS2 one for general stuff ? I assume you want the resolution/response for gaming.

That's how i used to have things... I just got tired of having two mice, and I wanted audio switching as well. I guess I don't really need audio on my work computer, its just win2k server with vmware installed on one drive, and redhat 7.2 on the other. You'd think they'd make an updated switch that supported usb input and dropped ps2 would be nice.

well since i'm a noob here, i forgot to search the posts :p... there was another kvm post a couple days ago and soemoen mentioned iogear. It looks like they have a purely usb one. I think I'll look into that.

my roommate has the iogear one, he's happy with it. altho, i think there's some issue with not all his keys working (not sure if it's a driver thing or what that's not happy). Then again, he is using a mac USB keyboard (well, geared for macs, and damn expensive).

I'm confused. Wouldn't the USB only model belkin have USB only ? then you just need a usb keyboard... all set.
