I've seen those "bent straw" mikes for $1 at Newegg but I've never used them. Do those cheapies tend to work ok? Do you find there's a large failure rate? At that price I could buy a dozen extra.

I've just noticed those GooseNeck Microphones at Audio Exchange. They look ok.

Have you used those headsets?

Brands?
MidiLand, Prosonic?

As a side point, any suggestions for cheap webcams would be appreciated.

those cheapo gooseneck mics are fine, i bought 10 from computergate a while back, i think they were 1.39 each and the were retail package i have been using the same one for 6 years and it looks like the same one i see in stores for 10 bucks

I have bought and used these Logitech Web Cam/With built in Mics (Refurbs) from Justdeals for 2 Years, No problems. I have bought 32 refurb cams from them over the last 2 years and All of them work just fine.(Gave them as Gifts) This is the one that I use Logitech QuickCam Web USB 961119-0403, the built in mic is fine and video quality is good as long as you have decent lighting...Here is a link to the camera page....CamPage With these there is no need for an add-on mic, it all works through USB.........
