Going to create a mesh network with 4 gigabit switches. I'd like to spend less than $1500 for each one, and I'm willing to buy off ebay. Any recommendations? Reality Checks? How about Dell? HP? 3COM? Cisco?
I know that SMC supports Jumbo frames in their lower-price models; if you're on a budget. I haven't look too closely at them however.
EDIT: I looked up the 24-port unmanaged version; it goes for <$800. It sounds like you're going for something serious though with those many ports. Maybe you should just get one switch with 96 ports for $6000 or less?
I have always liked directron for networking stuff (as well as cases, they areas good as Newegg IMO)... They have a large selection of switches and hubs, but only two of which are 24port & gigabit ... They also have awesome reseller ratings
You may want to take a look at their 24 port gigE switches
SMC8524T Unmanaged Gigabit Switch (Not sure if you need a managed switch, but if not, this ought to be plenty good) http://www.directron.com/smc8524t.html $767.99 each or 2x $1533.99
