I just took my mobo out and wanted to stick a blue orb on my mobo.

after everything is done and assemblied, i fired it up and nothing coming out on the screen.

ooopppss, i forgot to plug my delta fan to the PS.

luckily, i still have the heatsink on the cpu

but now i can't change any multiplier like before

what happen?? i still can run at default multiplier 8 and lower than 8

8.5 to 12 is not possible already

i have redo the unlocking with the defogger paint

anyone knows what had happened??

You could try taking off your heatsink and checking to make sure none of your traces are touching. I'm not sure how hot the whole chip would get runnign without active cooling, but I would check there first. Maybe it got really hot, and partially melted your defogger. So yeah, check the traces, if they aren't touching and still cover the traces, I would then look into checking your core voltage. Then....what exactly happens when you try to go over default multiplier? Do you get nothing, or do you get a number lower than default (ex 500 instead of 900). I had a prob when going over default that it would underclock, the solution, although weird, worked. If you boot and get lower than default at a higher mult, set your bios to how you want it overclocked. Then save and exit. When it posts, if its wrong, press the power button and shut it off. Then after a few seconds turn it back on. For some reason that just works :) give it a try

What were you running when it was at 1060 (from your sig) I would try o/c with multiplier with default fsb. If it is posting above default mult, then that means your traces are ok. Double check your voltage, and try default fsb.....

my traces are ok and i can put multiplier other than default and anything lower than default

that is mean my traces are fine since i can change to 6 or 5.5

but can get higher

is it possible that the cpu was burned too hot when i did not put the fan on and blow anything inside

Have seen funny things when the bridges aren't absolutely right, like no .5's. Never heard of it limiting your higher numbers, but it wouldnt hurt to remove the defogger(i hear acetone-not fingernail polish remover but the real stuff works good) and try again. If that doesn't do it, then its possible that without the fan on the chip, the accelerated heat might of damaged it. The manufacturer says that 10 sec without a heatsink will destroy a chip, but you had your heatsink on so that should of given you a bunch more time. I can tell you my system locked up in 8 secs or so, when I bumped my heatsink and it broke a little corner off my core :( and the little piece ended up under the heatsink when i tried to straighten it. Fortunately, my chip didn't burn up or stop functioning cuz of the chip in the core. (Gave me a chance to make another mess with Arctic Silver, weeeeeeee)

Try doing the bridges over if nothing else changed, if that aint the case chips are pretty cheap now. HEHE

how long was it running without the fan? I suppose it is possible that the chip was damaged, but I would think more along the line of a problem elsewhere. If you are 110% sure your traces are ok, try connecting the one open L7 trace. It will set the default voltage to 1.85 volts. Doing so may give you the jolt you need at startup.

As for connecting the L7 bridge, I had to do that on my athlon 850 to get it toa 10 multiplier. I realize youd iddnt have to before, but it won't hurt to try :p

i have connected the L1 and L7 bridges

i left if for not more than 10 seconds but i have been switching on and off manytimes because i did not see the fan was not plugged

could the heat just damaged partial of the cpu which cause i can't change the nultiplier now??

I don't think that heat damage would cause only a partial failure. I think that you'd be fried and dead, or all set. I truely am baffled :Q:frown::frown: btw what OS are you running?

hey, i got a solution.
when you change the multiplier in the bios (try 9.5), save and exit. about 1sec after u saved and exited, before anything shows on the screen, turn your POWER SUPPLY switch off, wait 2 sec, then turn the POWER SUPPLY switch back on. Gaurenteed, it'll turn out 950, if your proc can handle it

damn! u reply fast..
hmm.. 9.5x100? or 112?
u didn't fry your chip.. I forgot to plug in my athlon750@950 fan, and I booted into windows ME, stayed there for 1 min, watched the temp skyrocket to... 67 degrees celcius.. I was like, WTF? then, shut off the PS immediately., now I am running FASTER! at 1050, with 1.8v, and my t-bird is a greencore.. I got the same Mobo as u too. and.. i plugged in the fan this time.. although I seldom forget.

I also have the MSI Pro-2A. I also had no overclocking past 9.0 until I went to far on the FSB and it alarmed with no boot. So I cleared CMOS and WOW! I had overclock capabilities to 12.5. Have you cleared CMOS yet?

i did not have such problem before that, wonder why

i can get even 9.5*110 as last time what i did :(

btac:
i have cleared the cmos already

but no use :(
