I must have been deprived growing up. First time today seeing/tasting Dippin' Dots ice cream

My GF and I were at Hanes Mall this afternoon and she kept yapping about wanting to get some Dippin' Dots ice cream. Of course, I'm like "WTF is that?" She points out the little booth to me and we walk up. Sure enough, little beebee sized bits of ice cream scooped out of the bucket.

Seems like a pretty nifty idea although overpriced ($3.50 for a medium cup if I'm not mistaken)

Stuff has been around forever. But I don't recall seeing it around when I was a kid.

According to the website, the company got started in the late 80s.

I guess my tongue is too sensitive to cold then. It always tastes like I have dry ice in my mouth, which is to say, my tongue is way too cold to taste anything.

First time I had dippin dots was about 8 years ago when I went to space camp and space academy. It's funny though, because it is actually cheaper there than at mall's.

But I don't know of anywhere that has them around here... Only at the state fair, which is once a year...
