I must be the only person in the world who can't play Warcraft 3! Please help!

I am experiencing lockups after about 5 minutes of play - the mouse stops responding but the sound either continues playing or gets into a loop. Usually I am able to CTL-ALT-DEL and kill the Warcraft 3 task.

My machine:
MSI KT333 Ultra Motherboard (using onboard sound)
MSI GeForce4 4600
1.4Ghz Athlon
512Mb generic DDR2100
DLink 10/100 Network Card
300 watt generic PSU
OS : WindowsXP

I have the all the latest Windows Updates, latest Nvidia drivers (29.80), latest BIOS for my motherboard, latest sound drivers, latest 4 in 1s (4.40a). I have also tried the latest 1.01 Warcraft patch.

I have tried changing the sound options and running with no sound.

My CPU runs at a good stable temp of around 45-49. Nothing is overclocked and ever has been.

Please help otherwise I'm going to have to take back the only game I have wanted to play this year!!! :Q

Well, I seemed to of resolved the problem based on some advice I was given and after about 5 hours of downloading driver, after driver and performing test after test I am finally able to play the game. Heres a copy of the post I have made on the Blizzard support forum as it seems a large number of people are having problems....

I've been having the same problems and I tried for about 5 hours to get this game working last night downloading driver after driver.

My theory is that it is the cd copy protection on the cd which is causing the game to crash. In my case, although it verifies the cd when you start the game, it seems that 5 minutes or so into the game it tries to verify the cd again but this time it fails (and YES I do have a legit copy of the game!)

After applying a no-cd crack the game works flawlessly, I've been playing it for the last couple of hours! If you are wondering where to get the no cd crack from, take a look further down at all the 'Warcraft 3 Freezing' threads and its linked there or pop me an email: mmmozzano at hotmail dot com

Hopefully Blizzard will get a patch sorted which solves the cd protection problems so I can play on B-NET!

I paid for the game and I have had to apply a no-cd crack just so I can play it
