All day I get calls from people that have problems with PC parts.
Some are end users.
Some are resellers.
The other day, I got a board back where the reason for return was "something fell off of the board and now it won't boot".
I received the board, looked at it and said, "oh look! The voltage regulator overheated, desoldered itself and fell off the board."
I then pictured myself calling in for an RMA and saying just that to the guy on the other side of the call instead of just "something fell off of my board".
Then I realized that I NEVER get anyone that calls in that knows EXACTLY what's happened! Just, "I dunno. It's dead."
Usually if a board doesn't POST, the "I've been doing this for 40 years" people say "the BIOS is bad". WTF?!?!
Umm.... Sorry. If it doesn't even POST, how do you know it's the BIOS that's bad?! :Q
Sorry folks... I went to an Intel spiel today and the only thing I gained from it was the free ham sandwich at the lunch break.
