I think 30GB is the normal "small" size for hard drive based mp3 players.

They're all discontinued, but Creative has many 20GB+ hard drive players. The most recent is the Zen Vision: M. The new flash based Zen is available up to 32GB, but kind of expensive at $350.

Just go to NewEgg and look at all the players >20GB, I'm sure there are quite a few other brands out there that offer larger players.

EDIT: Looks like Archos and Cowon still offer some HDD based players, although they appear to be designed more for video.

MS and Apple are the only two companies still selling HDD based MP3 players here in the US. Most of the others discontinued their HDD players and have been focusing on flash. There are some PMPs, where video is the focus (Archos players are actually supposed to have not very good music playback even, whereas Cowon's players are quite good in that area although they often times don't have the best interface for music). Since it would be difficult to take on two juggernauts, most companies are focusing on flash players where they can be much more competitive on prices and features than Microsoft and Apple have been. Then there is the rise of flash capacity, which I think some of the companies are waiting on.

I hope that they can all switch to SDHC-based flash players. I mean SDHC's are hitting 16GB now, so why not make MP3 players that have 2 to 3 of those SDHC's RAIDed JBOD together?

Which player though? I was speaking specifically of the A3, which is a PMP and is commonly considered to not have a good interface for browsing music. Not to mention that it is opinion. I have heard a lot of people who have used a Zune for a decent period of time say it is in their opinion the best interface (as in that on the actual player, not taking into account the Zune software) of any player.

Archos, Cowon, Creative, more, more, and more.

You really suck at the internet if you can't find MP3 players above 20GB.

Go to amazon.com. Find the mp3 player section. Along the left you can specify what size HD the player needs.

Because very few of the companies that sell those players make SD cards (besides Sandisk and Toshiba mentioned above) so there's no profit in doing so. How is Apple going to justify charging $50 for 4 more GB of space on an 8GB nano over the 4GB version?

Still a fan of the Zen Vision M. IMO, everything else has been a step backward since then. I can import and watch 640x480 DivX files with no conversion necessary on my Vision M.
