Since when did they ever come with them? I have seen a rare few include the cable, but not often... What's worse is why don't they include FULL ink/toner in the original?

All printers should come with network cards or wireless nics, IMO.

That's a joke considering all the web cams and digital cams and even cell phones that I bought had came with them.

At least it came with Ink, can't complain.

Because a 6 foot usb cable will be purchased at best buy/office depot/staples for like 20 bucks over the maybe buck (if that) it takes to produce it.

bluetooth lacks the bandwidth
802.11b circuitry is considerably more expensive

exactly. Unless the printer is highend, it won't come with a cable.

Why can't you use it? You read the side of the box didn't you?

Bought it from newegg. Does not state USb cord is sold separately. And even on the product link page it shows this fact only in small fine print.

Hate to say this, but it's common knowledge that printers don't come with cables.

It's been since at least 1994 that printers haven't come with cables. That's when we bought our old HP DeskJet 560C and it didn't have a cable. None of the 5 or so printers I've purchased for family/friends have come with cables either.

Do you get mad that microwaves don't come with food in them?

I bought a new refrigerator and it was empty! i called best buy and complained and told them i would need a gift card for $600 to buy food. The girl on the phone laughed and hung up on me.

I mean WTF!? when you buy a fridge it should have food in it right? it didn't say on the box "empty go buy some food" now did it? so you would expect it to be full of food!

heck i would have accepted a new Xbox. but nooo!

Printers never come with the cable. That way they can make some more cash selling the cable too. I worked retail 12 years ago and they never came with the cables. Pretty lame since the cost of a cable is a couple dollars when you take off the insane markup.

Just bought a Konica-Minolta 1350W (the Staples deal in Hot Deals), and had to deal with this same crap. Worst part of it is, they use those stupid USB-B cables (the ones that look like a baseball home plate) instead of the typical rectangular A cables. I have a bunch of A-A cables lying around my apt, but I'm almost positive that printers are the only peripheral that use a B-A cable. Stupid.

The "excuse" is that "most" printers have both parallel and USB connections. Supplying both cables is "expensive"

For the record, all my printers pre-USB came with cables.

Actually, *ALL* USB peripherals I've seen that don't use some proprietary junk use USB-B connectors.

Hubs, scanners, printers, media readers, drive enclosures, etc.

Really? My 7-in-1 media reader, webcam, MP3 player, camera, and scanner all use the typical A plug. And the funniest part of that is, all of them (except the printer, of course) came with USB cables. Go figure.
