I missed the bus today

I have no idea how this happened. My car is manual locks/windows, so when I open the driver door, I have to lock the door before I shut it. Somehow, when I stepped out, my key fabric loop thingy got caught on the lock latch inside, and when I shut the door, the fabric got stuck in the door. The bus was about to stop at the stop, but I couldn't get there since I had to figure out how to get the door open.

It took me awhile. At first I thought it was some kind of liquid gasket, but it's a shop rag. Bummer about finding it after assembly.

To be fair to the OP, if the bus that you need to catch is ABOUT to stop and you're in a hurry, you're not exactly thinking quickly.

umm... why couldn't you

A) Use the FOB to unlock the door and just open the door
B) Remove the key from the keychain and unlock the door?

or are you saying the door was somehow jammed with the rope stuck in it?
