I missed American Idol last night... (4/15)

My opinion is that these "reality shows" suck major ASS!!
I can't believe I have to sit through a segment about Idol or Survivor on my freakin' local news every night. I also can't believe that over 20 million people care enough about Idol to fskin call in to vote!!!

While I would generally agree that reality-based TV sucks ass, I have to disagree when it comes to American Idol.
The main difference between American Idol and all other reality-based TV shows is that the contestants are rewarded for being TALENTED. They have something to offer to people other than "I wasn't voted off the island".

by "talented" do you mean by traditional standards of some sort?
one could argue that not getting voted off the island requires talent.
I understand your point. What I am saying is that people who succeed on American Idol have an opportunity to maximize their talent in the real world, after the show is over.
If you do well on Survivor (etc), how are you going to use that "skill-set" in the real world?
To get back on topic here, the theme of the night was Billy Joel songs. And Smokey Robinson was the guest judge.
I only watched the first 10 or so minutes and all I can say they all sounded like cr@p.

1st up: Kimberly Caldwell. Sexy as hell, can't sing.
2nd: Ruben - Sang awesome, as always.
3rd - Kimberly Locke - Sang awesome, which was a surprise
4th - Carmen - Does anyone else think that her vibrato make her sound like a goat?
5th - Joshua - Actually sang well. Didn't think he had the talent to do Piano Man, but he did. I was impressed.
6th - Trenyce - Sucked. Dressed slutty to get votes. Nothing new here.
7th - Clay - Sang well. Always does. Still looks like a geek, but probably one of the most level-headed guys I've ever seen on TV.

You might be right about the retards sang as that's probably what you hear...but
lots of people do care as the show is doing quite well from the looking at the weekly ratings.
Now, that show that's coming soon, mr personality, sounds like it would suck big time.

As for AI, I started watching it because of my roommates... last night, Clay and Kimberly Locke blew me away. That Carmen girl needs to go... she doesn't sing, she screams.

Carmen will be out next week regardless. Treyence next. Then Kim Locke. Final 3 is Ruben, Josh, and Clay. Josh prob next, then Clay will win it all, unfortunately, despite the fact that he looks like a human Dumbo.
