I asked about this in the beta but never got a reply. We need them.

The subtitle was one of the cool things about ATOT that I miss, yeah.

I miss it so much I didnt even notice it was gone. That would add even more clutter!

Less clutter =

They were useful, but I can easily live without them. Mouse over preview is available and better than Subtitles IMO. They are currently Disabled after some didn't like the way it worked, but I wonder if the Powers that Be are working on re-implementing them in a better form than their Default?

Most of us can live without Anandtech, imnot sure what your point was.

Also, that isnt better. I dont want to mouse over every thread just to see information I could look up and down through instantly and much faster with my eyes.

MouseOver is better simply because it lets you see a part of the actual Post. Anything can be put into a Subtitle.

I liked being able to update the status & latest thank-yous for the Child's Play thread, but for other threads it just added a little extra work to try to come up with something allegedly clever for the summary.

But if I want to see the first post, it usually means I want to click the thread anyway.

All too often the Post and Title/Subtitle had no relation to each other. Seeing the Post is the ultimate way of knowing whether it was worth clicking on.

But thats the AT flavor.

Why you try'n to change the flavor?

No one wants your bulk cubed beef flavor!

In the time it takes you to verify one thread through MouseOver, you could have found 5 other possible threads to read. Reading subtitles is significantly faster.

And besides, why not have both?

Cause you touch yourself.

Thought about this yesterday...the thread about the dead woman found in a mcdonalds food plant wouldn't have been the same without subtitles.
