I miss Myst. They should make a new one.

Yes I said it. I really loved that franchise and while it got a little long in the tooth near the end it was still enjoyable. I should note that I never finished the last game in the series.

With modern GPUs they could now easily make Riven (Myst II) run in real time. Granted not ray traced like they did much of that game but modern GPU tricks could make for a game just about as good looking in real time now.

Unfortunately there aren't too many games that fill this niche. I usually play Tomb Raider and turn it down to easy when I want to just explore and figure out some puzzles. Amnesia looks like it would be similar, minus the horror aspect.

There IS a European company called The Adventure Game Company still published adventures for this niche market.

Sadly the quality of a lot of their stuff leaves a lot to be desired when compared to good adventure games of the past.

So what you're saying is they don't have puzzles where you put duct tape on a fence to get cat hair to combine with maple syrup to make a mustache to disguise yourself as someone that doesn't have a mustache?

I never really liked myst played through the first one was never interested enough to try the other ones.

LOL touche. No I mean their production values are crappy and often feel like they were build in some kind of adventure game "editor" or something. But there are a few that are worth it.

Yearly Myst convention!

Have you at least played Real Myst?

And the update version of original Myst?

Schizm 2 [and Schizm] reminded me of Myst style of adventure:

Not sure what it is - but I just couldn't finish Myst III, IV, or V - I would literally get bored and nod off during gameplay.

Hmm no I haven't played the updated versions of those. But what I want to see is a new Myst game, not the same one redone. I played Schizm 1 and enjoyed that quite a bit (warning some touch puzzles in that!).

Love the Myst series. Have all of them, only gotten halfway through IV. Some of the most immersive games ever.

IV is the last one I finished and V is the one I didn't get through here. I really enjoyed both Myst III and IV, underrated IMHO.
