I miss my old state, Virginia

I lived in Virginia for over 10 years and moved last week. I remember when I moved from Texas, it took me nearly 2 years to stop missing it. I stopped missing it after I went and vacationed there, and then I felt that Virginia was my home. Hopefully it wont take as long for California to feel like home.

Edit: I dont really miss Virginia as a state, but I miss Virginia because of the people that live there

I've lived in Sacramento for 5 years and still miss Santa Cruz. This is because Santa Cruz is 100x more awesome than the whole Sacramento area.

Long enough for me to get the 6-vehicle convoy (2 bigass UHauls, my girlfriend's car, my car, 2 friend's cars) across the state line. I mean, I'm still only 30 miles from where I used to live, but Pennsylvania is my home now, for better or for worse.

Virginia does not have low taxes, they have a state income tax, tolls on roads, yearly car tax, and for some reason they tax you on groceries. And the city I lived in Richmond, had a 10.5% prepared meals tax which is ridiculous.

effective local governments? Why is the capital of Virginia consistently on the top 10 highest crime rate cities and for a few years in the 90s was the murder capital?

ummm no, most cities in VA have 10% food tax when you eat outside, VA has sh!tty gun laws, beautiful scenery award goes to West Virginia, no effective governments really, local roads suck, etc.

I had to drive through that forsaken state TWICE last week. While West Virginia wins hands down as the armpit of the East, I don't see why anyone would want to live in VA if they were doing anything but farming... farming doublewides, that is.

VA sucks. I've lived here as long as I can remember. It's boring as all hell. Sure, the scenery's nice, sure, I can own any gun the feds will let me, sure, there's a lot of history here... but I still want to live elsewhere. Ah well, hopefully I can get a taste of MD (which also isn't too good, in my experience) if I get into Hopkins, then who knows.

Edit: I live alternately in Fairfax (right now) and Richmond (when VCU is in session)
