So last night I do my taxes thinking that I got everything from all my jobs and bank accounts etc. I finished them hella late and turned it in electronically. This morning I receive yet another thing in the mail from my old University stating that I had gotten some money from them. Yeah this was some "payment" for being free labor through this internship program. So now I have a 1099-MISC with $800 written on it and I totally did not put it in what I turned in last night. I redid my taxes with this info and I guess I'll be receiving $200 extra. So does anybody know how to fix this problem? Do I file another return? Can I just send the difference back to them? Do I call the IRS? Yeah cuz as of now I'm waiting for the acceptance response through the e-file thingie and I dunno what to do.

You have to file an amended return. 1040X I believe. I had to do the same a couple of years ago.

You'll be able to fix it with in the next 10 years when you're sitting in your cell.

You have up to 3 years to file an amended return, form 1040X.

Please check first, but I don't think you can file a 1040X until after April 15.

Humm well my return got denied for some W-2 Name/ID reason...hummm...odd. No matter...if it didn't go through then I'll just do it the old fashioned way.
