I messed up my monitor :\

I had a mark on the lower right hand corner of my screen that I could not get off with a towel and windex. It was almost like wax - or a crayon. Don't ask how it got there, I was away for the week when it happened (grr)

So smart me takes the green side of a sponge and .. pretty much .. scraps it off. The mark is now gone. Where the mark once was is now several 'sratches' of some sort.

It seems as if the monitor is coated with some kind of material that can be removed (obviously) and I think I did just that. It's almost like a tint. The monitor is a certain color, but the screen is brighter where the scratches are.

Since I don't exactly know what I did, I can't really ask the correct question - but .. is there any way to fix this? I know for sure I removed some kind of layer on the monitor's screen. Is there a kit of some sort to cover this up?

Thanks in advance.

i think you scratched off some of the anti-glare coating

you MIGHT be able to buy some of this to rub on or something, but i highly doubt it

It definitely is anti-glare material. I really doubt that it can be replaced. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of you monitor or look in their support page. They might have something on that. They will be able to tell you what to do if anything can be done.

I once did the same thing to my car's side view mirror. Now there's a scratch on one corner of it that I have to see and regret every time I look at that $@#!* mirror!

Moral: be careful with abrasive material! 😀
