My wife works at a Cingular Wireless call center which has 749 computers with P3 933Mhz W/256MB of RAM. she had a company lunch where I got talking with one of the IT guys and explained what distributed folding was and how important the research is. He said he's have to go the the main administrator to get permission. I really don't think he will go for it as her would not even let my wife install Microsoft intellipiont software for her optical mouse I got her, but it's worth a try.

I guess that'd put you just a wee bit higher on production than TA TheMagicman. :)

Wow, really some great advocacy for the cause!

Good luck!

Go Fer It Sean !

I asked our IS&S guy if I could put it on my work machine, and he laid a big golden brick right there on the floor.

He said "then everyone would want to do it"
I said "that's the idea...... think of the philanthropic (sp?) contribution... Our division could take the credit publicly and everyone wins.
He said "It would wear out our computers, hog bandwidth and be a distractions"
I said (outloud) "Okies" (to myself :D ) "your azzhole is puckered up tighter than a naked cop in a jail yard)

I sure hope you have better luck than I did.

Hehe... What a joke.

Wear out our computers: That's an idiotic response and if he really believes it he's not qualified to hold the position.
Hog bandwidth: More than spam and other totally non-work related Email?
Distractions: It would take IT resources to install and maintain it.

The last point is valid, the first 2 are a joke. Sounds like the guy just isn't interested.

Yepperz, the guy was a total jerk and this certainly isn't the first time their competence came into question :disgust:
