I bought some really nice, thick blade steaks (with nice marbling) and put them in my crock pot.

I added:

1 can of diced tomatoes with Italian seasoning
1 can of Hunt's Tomato sauce
1 small zucchini
1 small green pepper
1 chopped onion
some portabella mushrooms
a few green olives
some garlic powder and various seasonings

after 9 hours I had the most tenderest, flavourful steak ever.

the left over sauce is so rich and tasty with small chunks of steak. It would be great for pasta or rice.

I am so full now.

:D

On the contrary, some steaks are best handled by a crock pot. You don't toss a filet or ribeye into a crock, but for tougher cheap cuts like a blade steak a crockpot is perfect. What OP made is fairly similar to a Swiss Steak and if making Swiss Steak I'd definitely use a crock pot.

Throw a blade steak on the grill? Are you guys serious? Or do you like eating tough Denny's style rush-it-out-with-a-grill-press steaks? OP called it and it seems like he pulled it off.

OP: Should have used some cayenne and diced up one dried chile to give it just a little extra mouth music. :)

I did add 3 shots of Cholula sauce.

not enough to make it hot, but it still adds flavour.

A blade steak is a nice cut. I take it's a thinner piece that would be a blade roast? I use that for pot roast, as seen on Good Eats. Basically braised in a foil pouch.

I will have to crock pot one sometime.
