I made some russian tea cakes

I dont cook much or anything, but my girlfriend's favorite snack is Russian tea cakes. The only place we have found to sell them around is is a local cafe, but they hadn't made any for almost 6 months now. So I decided to try to make them. I got the recipe from Allrecipes.com. It was actually quite easy. Some butter, vanilla extract, all purpose baking flour, confectioners sugar, and a dash of salt. Well, they came out very very good. I think they even taste better than the cafe's tea cakes. Well, I gave my mother a couple today and she refuses to believe that I made them. I asked her why she doesn't think I could make them. Her exact words were "they're just soo damn good."

Something similar happened to me recently. I've invited a friend for dinner and was still cooking in the kitchen when he came. So when he saw me frying a roesti he suggested to try one that doesn't come out ready of the bag once. A bit perplexed I just succeeded to answer that I cooked the potatoes myself this afternoon, and he ate them anyway.

On the other hand, I'm "the guy who brings the tiramisù" in my circle of friends...
