I made awesome Iced Tea today

Wow, this stuff is so much better than the commercial crap. Plus there are only 4 ingredients and no unnecessary chemicals.

recipe:

5 regular teabags
2 cups of water, boiled
6 cups of cold water
3/4 cup white sugar
1/3 cup of lemon juice

put teabags in teapot and put in 2 cups of boiled water. Let steep 15 mins.
pour tea into large pitcher. stir in sugar until dissolved.
add cold water.
add lemon juice.

mix well and chill it in the fridge.

i prefer hot tea when its cold out, for sure. but since ive grown up in the south...if i have cold tea is has to be chock full of sugar and be steeped all afternoon.

Here's mine...

Boil a kettle of water, the amount doesn't matter, but around 1qt. Turn off burner, add 2 green tea bags, and 2 Celestial Seasonings Lemon Zinger bags. Let it sit there and cool. When you remember it's there, pour it into a 2qt pitcher, hand squeeze the bags into the pitcher, then top off with water, no sugar.

Variations can be made with other flavored teas, and using black instead of green tea.

Why bother with tea bags? Just use loose leaf orange pekoe.

I prefer very slightly sweetened iced tea.

The way I make it:

boil two cups of water
drop in 6 tea bags
2 tablespoons of sugar
Walk away for 15 minutes
Add the tea and the bags into a half gallon pitcher with ice
Add enough water to fill the pitcher
Slice 1 lemon and drop in

Very low calories, nice refreshing taste.

We make sweet tea all the time. It's the drink of choice in Alabama. We do 1 cup of sugar in 1 gallon of water though. It used to be around 2 cups but we've toned it down some.
