I made a big mistake

The other day, my computer told me I had run out of space on c: drive while I wasn't doing anything that should have been adding things to my hard drive. So I ran windirstat and saw that I had some very large files in my user\appdata\local\temp directory. so I deleted all of them, because I thought since it was a temp directory it would be ok to do so. then I downloaded the newest updates to spybot and avg and ran them both.

the next evening I tried to upload some new music I had purchased from bandcamp to my amazon account and it seems as though amazon had rolled out a new import application that requires you to uninstall the old one to install the new one. so I went to uninstall the old one using programs and features uninstall feature. the amazon importer application is listed but when I go to uninstall it, it says that the setup.msi file necessary to download it is missing from the user\appdata\local\temp directory and it will not proceed. oops!! then when I try to just install the new one, it throws an error every time and does not complete.

amazon's customer support isn't really doing anything to help me, they just submitted a ticket. they said they would get back to me right away, but this was 4 days ago.

also I noticed that since that fateful day, some of my program icons in the start bar do not display properly, stuff like window, amazon, and adobe applications, not sure if this is a related issue.

in closing, I don't have any restore points for some reason as well...

any suggestions?

For the Amazon app, can you get a hold of the original install file? If you can install it over top the existing app, then try to install the new one.

You should have used a tool like CCleaner to clear your junk. I think you have done it manually clear off folders or files required.
You should try to restore your computer to previous state by using system restore.
If this is successful, use tool to clear your junk.
You can also increase C drive by using disk management.

I wish I could do a system restore, but all of my restore points are gone too. I suspect whatever was creating space on my hard drive took out the restore points...

so i used winrar to open up the installer file of the new download then extracted the contents to the directory where it should be. i can run the file directly from the folder, but i am still unable to uninstall it and i cant use the import function form the website.

i guess i should just be happy that i am able to upload music again and use this as a lesson to not wille nillie delete stuff again...

so you expect the same customer support on Thanksgiving day weekend????? Be patient!

When you try to uninstall it, is that from add/remove programs? As long as the entry exists there, I have had great luck with the force removal feature in Geek Uninstaller (kinda like Revo Uninstaller with a better interface). It was the only way I could fully remove a POS (and I don't mean Point of Sale) program at an office computer to be able to reinstall.
