WTF? I knew 2000 was a good year but holy crap. Worked 340 days last year. Wife just finished books for last year, and laid this on me. Almost half of that income was from independent contractor work, and I have to pay all the taxes. Good thing I saved money for the IRS...

Guess I will not be able to buy that PT Cruiser this year.

:(
Crap.

That is the problem, Beast...I have a full time job, but also do work as a computer consultant/trainer, and I work as an electronic tech/salesperson for another company in my spare time. According to these records, I worked 340 days last year. M-F 95 regular job, most weekends and a lot of nights doing the other jobs.

I think I work too hard for what I got...

What is this... A "brag about how much I made last year" thread?

Yeah beast, at first it sounds like a lot... But have you ever figured out what hourly rate that would be? Umm... wait. You probably don't want to know. ;)

Working a lot sucks, especially if you have kids. I've managed to land an awesome job, in which I only work 14 days a month. I can work overtime, and make quite a bit more. But I'd rather spend it raising my kids.

No, not being a Smart A**.......the reason it's NOT so funny is because the money was a Work Comp. Settlement........I now have enough Titanium in my back to make a small baseball bat!:(

Wingnut: I have a problem about wanting to work too much. It is like alcoholism in many ways. And no, it is not bragging. I am just suprised, because the money does not mean that much to me.I just like to work and the money is secondary. I am more blown away by the number of days worked than the money.

I wasn't referring to you, NovaTerra. Actually when I mentioned bragging, I was talking about ToBeMe.

Of course now I kind of feel like a jack@ss. My sincerest apologies, ToBeMe. I hurt my back a couple years ago, and I think I'm just starting to realize it'll never be the same. But since I have no foreign material in my back, I'm guessing you'd take my back over yours any day. ;) Anyway, I can relate to a bad back, albeit probably not on the same level as you. Again, I apologize.

If you pay taxes every quarter you aren't penalized as much as if you wait until the end of the year. As an independent contractor, you are supposed to report all income every quarter and pay taxes on it at that time. You should also make sure you have no local/state taxes to take care of at that time.

If you made that much on IC work last year you are going to pay a LOT in taxes.... *comfort* You made about 2 1/2 times what I did last year! Maybe I need a new job. Last year was a hmm..... I think a $7,000 improvement over the previous year and a $17,000 improvement over the year before that.
