so i bought a 360 like january 2006. i had loved my original xbox and was fanatically waiting for the new one. barely over a month after they came out i got one. insane amount of excitement when a coworker found a best buy that actually had it in stock. i even got a free xbox 360 remote at the time. was very happy.

my job got super busy at the time. i ended up getting a new job after the busy part of my job was over and was busy doing that. then i decided to move across the state for an even better new job beginning of 2007 and i FINALLY had the time to play.

so i've had the xbox exactly a year, and barely had time to play it. gears of war sat there rotting. my former roomate on he other hand actually played MY xbox ALL THE TIME and even bought one once i moved away.

So, now i finally have time to play. and my warranty just expired and my xbox 360 decides to kill itself. it just locks up every 2 minutes. oddly it works absolutely perfect if all of the casings are removed and it is cooled by the air. strangely it worked for an entire year and then decided it didnt want to work anymore now that i can actually play, and my warranty is expired.

anyhow, my now half dead 360 sits there. the 360 that cost me $430 and an xbox live sub and lasted a pathetic 1 year. MICROSOFT WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS CRAP? FIX IT DAMN IT FIX IT. This was the one thing you guys made other than my natural keyboard that i thought was decent.

What is sad is I still like the games, the xbox live, etc. its just my hardware is broken. and i know i will end up buying another one and forking over another $400. anyone know when the 65nm one will come out?

Sadly the 360s seem to suffer from a variety of defects. It is a great console though in a whole, they're just rushing em out too fast and a lot of them have problems or die fairly quick. I would suggest to anyone to get an extended warrany on a 360 if possible because they almost always break down within a year. A friend of mine just got a 360 for xmas and it's already overheating all the time and has slowdowns in game here and there.

after i saw three in peices on my buddies floor, i decided it would be rudent to wait for a revision.
not only that, its a year and a half old now, no price drop yet...i'd like to get one, but not in its current form and certainly not for $400.
if they keep the same launch window(4 yrs) we are almost to the midway point of the 360.

I bought my 360 in Jan of this year. Disc drive gradually crapped out in Feb (more and more frequent disc read errors). Swapped it out at Circuit City recently. But I've heard stories of people having to pay $100 and wait weeks for their dead 360s, so I consider myself lucky.

if you bought it at costco you can still return it and get a new one. Also if you bought it with an AMEX or another credit card that extends manufacturer warranties you may be covered. My 360 (1 year old) stopped reading discs and I took it back to costco no problem.
